Swarm is Donald Glover’s Beyonce Multi-verse

This week on Geek Force, the Squad discusses “Swarm”,  the Donald Glover-produced, psychological thriller show on Amazon. They also examine Star Trek’s “Picard” show again, noting it’s at its midpoint and what could happen next. They also look at “The Mandalorian” with the same lens. Marlin gets into Dreamworks’ “Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken” (possibly a jab at Disney and their “Little Mermaid” live action movie?); and finally, “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Once and Always” movie will be released on Netflix for their anniversary. It’s been 30 years y’all!

Speaker 1
Last time on deck for the squad talked about Creed three. It was a knockout segway into HBO. The Last of US will be The Last of US will see. And season two and we wrapped with the opening a couple of episodes of The Mandalorian. But see, we’re talking about today now.

00:00:21:20 – 00:00:25:15
Speaker 2
Oh, geek for.

00:00:26:05 – 00:00:42:10
Speaker 3

00:00:42:23 – 00:00:47:22
Speaker 1
Thank you for helping Vin Diesel. I mean, they really need a script, doctor, and they call the right one.

00:00:49:09 – 00:00:52:18
Speaker 4
I hope that joke dies at some point. I really do.

00:00:53:05 – 00:00:53:19
Speaker 3
Never.

00:00:54:11 – 00:00:57:16
Speaker 4
I really that’s. That’s my Christmas wish for this year.

00:00:57:17 – 00:01:08:11
Speaker 1
It’s like. Like a nickname that you like, you know, didn’t want to have, but, like, something happened, and now this is what it’s like being and it’s a black people who do one thing one time. That’s your nickname?

00:01:09:02 – 00:01:10:09
Speaker 3
Yup. This is very true.

00:01:11:03 – 00:01:11:10
Speaker 1
It’s like.

00:01:11:22 – 00:01:14:17
Speaker 4
Okay, no, that’s actually I can’t stop.

00:01:14:17 – 00:01:15:18
Speaker 1
It could work on me.

00:01:17:01 – 00:01:23:03
Speaker 4
Well, at least one other one more endearing than calling me Vin Diesel script. Doctor, that just doesn’t sound good.

00:01:24:05 – 00:01:25:05
Speaker 1
They need to.

00:01:27:05 – 00:01:30:02
Speaker 3
I hope everyone’s doing well. Everyone’s doing okay.

00:01:31:17 – 00:01:39:03
Speaker 1
Holding it down. The sun is out. Seasonal depression is at bay for now. The sun’s out for a little bit happier.

00:01:39:21 – 00:01:43:05
Speaker 3
Was this a commercial? Oh, like commercial.

00:01:44:02 – 00:01:44:13
Speaker 1
Were you say.

00:01:44:16 – 00:01:47:10
Speaker 4
You were locking heads now for four years and tell us.

00:01:47:16 – 00:02:02:10
Speaker 1
Hey, hey, hey, listen. Were you sad when the clouds were in front of the sun? We were, too. You’re a geek for us. We suggest touch grass. You should talk to your doctor to see if such a grass is right for you. If you guys are more than 6 hours and get a rash, you probably wish the grass survived.

00:02:02:18 – 00:02:06:16
Speaker 2
But triggered by.

00:02:07:16 – 00:02:10:08
Speaker 1
Is on board.

00:02:11:07 – 00:02:34:03
Speaker 3
Anyway, we have some great topics today. First one I’m going to really get into because this kind of came out of nowhere. And as you know, Donald Glover had concluded with Atlanta last year. We were wondering what was his next project? Here it is. He has a new psychological thriller TV show on Amazon Prime that he co-created with a lady named Janine Lamers.

00:02:34:03 – 00:02:55:19
Speaker 3
And it’s called Swarm. Swarm is about a disturbed fan who is kind of obsessed with a Beyoncé like musician and how far she would go to protect, I don’t know, the you can’t say anything bad about her. I guess it’s like you talk bad about this. What’s her name?

00:02:56:08 – 00:02:58:08
Speaker 1
And the name is Naija Naija.

00:02:58:09 – 00:03:00:17
Speaker 3
Yeah, I want to say Beyonce does not.

00:03:00:18 – 00:03:03:09
Speaker 4
Like O Beehive. I know. I get it. Okay. Yeah.

00:03:03:14 – 00:03:27:07
Speaker 3
And this evening, same. The fandom is called the Hive as very similar. And so I really like the story premise, but when you watch it, I felt like it was a little bit more deeper of how everything was included. It’s definitely a journey. It’s definitely a lot of things that we’ve seen in Atlanta plays about Atlanta, but like even more extended in the show.

00:03:27:07 – 00:03:32:18
Speaker 3
So yes, how can we go about this, you guys? How should we dissect this?

00:03:33:05 – 00:04:03:22
Speaker 2
It it reminded me of a Jordan Peele movie also in a lot of parts, just in the way that you weren’t really sure what was happening. You had a lot of questions about the characters, like, how did we get here? Why is she like this? And then they they he did a good job with her backstory of like kind of showing that she didn’t get along with like her friends, family and just like, little things that were just like how there’s a little mystery going on here, too, that I was like, I wanted to know what was happening.

00:04:05:00 – 00:04:26:17
Speaker 2
I don’t know. I did. I think where I want to start is I heard a little bit after watching it that people were kind of going off on Donald Glover some because of his comments that he made about the main character, I guess, off book. And then like people are kind of talking about it.

00:04:27:23 – 00:04:29:05
Speaker 4
They the actor.

00:04:30:02 – 00:04:47:22
Speaker 2
About the character in the show, not the actress, but it was directions he gave the actress. I should have pulled him up before we started talking. But the gist of it that I remembered was that he, the actress, was having trouble, like figuring out how to do a scene or like, what were the motivations of the main character?

00:04:47:22 – 00:05:11:08
Speaker 2
Because if you watch the show, you’ll you’ll get a vibe very quickly that his main character is socially unaware or socially awkward or something. She has a social ineptness to her that I would bet a lot of people will recognize some sort of autism in her, some kind of some sort of neurodivergent. So on the spectrum. On the spectrum somewhere, right.

00:05:12:04 – 00:05:43:14
Speaker 2
And I got that vibe too pretty early. And I just wasn’t sure what that meant, what they were trying to do. Like there were just ways that she just would like, stare at someone when they were talking to her that were like very intentional pauses that were just like, okay, y’all have this for a reason. And so I guess she was confused and doing a scene, and he kind of just told her to like, I forgot I want to say the exact words, but that people were reporting that he said and it was something like, She just doesn’t mean anything.

00:05:43:14 – 00:06:05:23
Speaker 2
Just I just do it like she’s crazy. Like, like she basically was The gist of it, though. Donald Glover Saum remarks, I’m going to find this and because people were like, Oh my gosh, he just thinks he we are, I guess because people associated with his character and the neurodivergent that’s especially fans of the show that were watching it that associate with that.

00:06:06:03 – 00:06:35:11
Speaker 2
And so to read it, read what they were saying, it felt like it felt like Glover I kept telling her, You’re not regular people. You don’t have to find the humanity in your character. That’s the audience’s job. These were apparently, reportedly Glover’s words. Think of it more like an animal and less like a person. And those are words that people, I’m sure, not really didn’t like to hear.

00:06:35:11 – 00:07:05:11
Speaker 2
Yes, yes, yes, yes. Especially that. Yeah, it sounds really bad. And I because of the brutality of some of the scenes in this show, I, I feel like there’s a level of it that I get from where like if I hear Donald Glover’s voice in this, I feel like I get that from this character. Like they he did kind of want her to be kind of animalistic, kind of brutal, kind of primal, almost like she didn’t really think sometimes when someone said something bad about nature, she just saw red.

00:07:05:11 – 00:07:32:07
Speaker 2
She didn’t she didn’t care who they were. She didn’t care how much she loved them. She didn’t care what they meant to her. They just they said you said something bad about nature. I have to choke you out now, like and and so I’m like, I get why people are upset, but I also get these words. I don’t think there will be any lasting fallout for for Glover for this because people love him too much but like they also don’t think it really I don’t think it shows that he was being rude or anything.

00:07:32:07 – 00:07:50:10
Speaker 2
But like it’s just a it’s an interesting way of like so many different people watch this show and I’m sure there are people that hate it. This main character, I’m sure there are people that really associated themselves with this main character. And despite how brutal and primal and honestly kind of ridiculous, as much of that might not be the right word.

00:07:50:10 – 00:08:19:04
Speaker 2
It feels right to me in some ways. It just like there are some moments in the show, I was just like, What is this characters like? Oh my gosh, Like, I like there is there is things going. I’m trying not to spoil anything, really, but like, there’s just some death and some killing and some choices. The episode where she’s hunting, the guy with while she has the shipping job and the and like the way that episode ends where she’s just like, I do I do it do I do it, Do I do it.

00:08:19:09 – 00:08:37:13
Speaker 2
And her friends are in the car and they’re about to drive off. Or when she says, I got to go use the bathroom, I was like, No, why are you doing this? This guy with it? No, don’t do it this time. You know where he lives now. Come back later or something. Like. Like I’m watching Dexter or something, and I’m expecting her to be smart about it, but, like, she’s not smart about any of her kills.

00:08:37:13 – 00:08:49:01
Speaker 2
Really. Like, she just kills the person. She doesn’t have any sort of like, Let me set up a chill room. Let me not move by. And so later on in the show where I was like, Oh, you’re wearing gloves now. Okay, well, at least you’re not. Doherty wore.

00:08:49:03 – 00:08:51:16
Speaker 3
One better. She’s getting better and.

00:08:51:16 – 00:08:52:21
Speaker 2
Smarter about this.

00:08:53:19 – 00:09:20:07
Speaker 1
I mean, I can see why people wanted to find fault. And I think at the end of the people, I think people are still trying to find some humanity in this character. And I think the way I watched it was like, okay, this character is Dahmer. ESQ So I feel like being told be an animal makes sense because Dahmer very much was like, I’m at I basically I’m at the mercy to my urges.

00:09:20:16 – 00:09:51:04
Speaker 1
And this very and I have to do like, I can’t stop it. It needs to happen as I’m doing it. And so I kind of saw it as that loads of like, oh, this is a Dahmer character who’s just going ridiculously violent. And I think they really did a great job of kind of giving us that. I mean, they even gave her this almost like religious speech when she had a whole conversation about pleasure and about how there are other ways to derive pleasure and we should all indulge in it and just have a little fun.

00:09:51:12 – 00:09:52:03
Speaker 1
And oh, she’s.

00:09:52:06 – 00:09:54:10
Speaker 2
Sure she meant killing in that scene. Yeah.

00:09:55:03 – 00:10:15:00
Speaker 1
It’s like, oh, yeah, this character is absolutely like at the mercy of this, like, very animalistic urgency of like, I’m going to kill, like, not to hunt, not to feed. I’m killing for pleasure, which is a very kind of like messed up and animalistic thing to do with like, Oh, I’m not even going to, like, uses for nutrients of it.

00:10:15:09 – 00:10:39:19
Speaker 1
I just want to, like, hold my my knives and just keep these these killings going because I’m just deriving a sense of pleasure and ownership because I am the soldier of Niger and I will do our bidding. And that is the that is the highest calling I can find in this world. And so I just really kind of enjoyed the escalation of the crimes and I even enjoyed, like the reasoning behind it.

00:10:39:19 – 00:11:17:01
Speaker 1
And I think my favorite person they had a line like before their tragedy befell them was Twitter nigga. Really? This is what this is about. Yes. This person was like, I cannot believe this. Like I am being a horror in the most egregious way. I’m confused and the focal point, the reason why I am going to die right now is because of something I tweeted that in the grand scheme of things isn’t that bad, but I think that was just kind of like, Oh my God, this is so ridiculous.

00:11:17:12 – 00:11:24:15
Speaker 1
And he she’s like, Yeah. And it’s like, okay, Even this person was like, I can’t believe it’s how it ends. I can’t believe it.

00:11:24:21 – 00:11:25:03
Speaker 3
Right?

00:11:25:03 – 00:11:47:20
Speaker 1
I hate this little moment in the show that I was like, I can’t I got to keep seeing what happens next. I just like, watch like I got to be watching what’s happening next. And then I also want to give Donald Glover props because he what like was mentioned online, gave us another damn near close. Could have been a real thing mockumentary style episode we’re literally after.

00:11:47:20 – 00:11:51:16
Speaker 1
But I’m like, I know this is fake, I know this is fake, but it.

00:11:51:16 – 00:11:53:09
Speaker 3
Felt so real though. Again.

00:11:53:15 – 00:12:00:08
Speaker 1
Why the why their picture is different? Oh, another fake. Oh, is it basic? No, no, I don’t think. But I was like you.

00:12:00:12 – 00:12:21:15
Speaker 3
But it it’s really convincing you that it’s real and you’re, like, really telling yourself this show is fake, This is not real life. But that one episode was like they had reenactments and other actors play anything. So, you know, with the Atlanta Show episode, with the goofy, goofy Epiphany, he doesn’t like it in this show where he does like a true first.

00:12:21:15 – 00:12:22:04
Speaker 1
40.

00:12:22:04 – 00:12:37:12
Speaker 3
Degree type thing. And the characters in the show, they’re being played by reenactments because it’s this cop who’s trying to find out and so there’s reenact actors who, like I just saw that two episodes ago with like the like it’s it’s 2D.

00:12:37:14 – 00:12:41:10
Speaker 4
It’s this is the season done is still going. Yeah what’s.

00:12:41:10 – 00:12:42:06
Speaker 2
Done I think.

00:12:42:20 – 00:12:42:21
Speaker 4
I.

00:12:42:21 – 00:12:45:20
Speaker 2
Don’t think it’s going to Yeah. What she said Yeah.

00:12:46:05 – 00:13:07:13
Speaker 1
Then I think I mean we had a friend Jared kind of was like saw the show and jumped into that episode first and was like, oh I like the thumbnail. And then he was like, I know this is this is a TV show, but he said he’s like, Is this a real thing? Like, like every episode starts. And I’m like, Listen, every episode starts with this is a work.

00:13:07:13 – 00:13:19:21
Speaker 1
This is not a work of fiction. It is a work of fiction, but in like some sort of, like weird kind of is it that kind of way? But I’m like, No, this is not real. But it’s really good if you watch the other episodes. And before that.

00:13:19:21 – 00:13:20:04
Speaker 3
You know.

00:13:20:06 – 00:13:45:05
Speaker 1
I loved it. I loved it. I mean, I want to say it right now. I think we’re seeing this amazing elevation of like black directors and horrors and like people in horror films. And I am loving it. Like we are pushing ourselves to the forefront and putting out and producing some of these and most amazing and just like thought provoking horror films.

00:13:45:05 – 00:14:01:12
Speaker 1
And we knew that, you know, it was kicking off with Get Out. And it just it’s kind of keeps following up from here. And Donald Glover is like, Yo, look, I finish Atlanta, let me try something else. And I’m really looking forward to seeing if he decides, you know what I’m going to also do a horror film as well.

00:14:01:12 – 00:14:12:08
Speaker 1
And we start seeing, like he was saying, a a Jordan Peele horror film. Horror film is like, I want to see that. So I’m excited to see what this could mean for this like, genre moving forward.

00:14:12:20 – 00:14:13:05
Speaker 3
Right?

00:14:13:06 – 00:14:15:00
Speaker 2
Billie Eilish did a good job, too.

00:14:15:01 – 00:14:19:18
Speaker 3
Oh, yes. I didn’t know that was her until when I was like, Wait, that was her?

00:14:20:09 – 00:14:21:22
Speaker 2
Yeah, I didn’t. I didn’t either.

00:14:21:22 – 00:14:22:06
Speaker 3
I didn’t.

00:14:22:06 – 00:14:27:01
Speaker 1
I know she plays foreboding and threatening very well, too. Like she was, like.

00:14:27:12 – 00:14:30:21
Speaker 3
More a show. She might be more socially accurate.

00:14:30:21 – 00:14:42:03
Speaker 1
She was. She didn’t raise her voice, which is a really low key and monotone, but also sinister. And I’m like, And I was like, There’s something wrong with you. This is the main actor. There’s something wrong with me. No, no, she was out four or five.

00:14:42:17 – 00:14:48:19
Speaker 3
Yeah, something like that. She has a she has she, she’s a very interesting character to pop up in the, in the show.

00:14:49:07 – 00:14:52:18
Speaker 4
So it’s like six episodes or so long. Are they.

00:14:52:23 – 00:14:53:07
Speaker 2
There are.

00:14:53:07 – 00:14:53:19
Speaker 4
Several.

00:14:53:19 – 00:14:54:23
Speaker 2
Late 30 minutes.

00:14:55:08 – 00:14:56:22
Speaker 1
Yeah. They’re about seven episodes.

00:14:57:08 – 00:14:59:11
Speaker 3
So you can binge watch this in the afternoon.

00:14:59:19 – 00:15:02:14
Speaker 4
To what do you want to binge it An afternoon.

00:15:02:14 – 00:15:03:10
Speaker 3
It is.

00:15:03:10 – 00:15:42:04
Speaker 1
Intense though. The first two with Camille and Camille tapped out that I can’t do this. And I’m like, That’s fine. I understand. I don’t know. I don’t know if she’ll get back into it, but just that they are heavy. It’s heavy and also gets really like taxing because a lot of the a lot of the character work is just it’s really hard to kind of watch Dominique Fishback like play this character that is fully teetering on the deep end and like has these real vivid moments of fantasy that she sees that no one else sees.

00:15:42:18 – 00:16:01:18
Speaker 1
And and like in the way she talks to people about things was unnerving and kind of creepy. And she was like, I’m so happy. And then she’ll tell you a dream she had as if it had actually happened in real life. And the characters are like, That sounds like bullshit. And you and the audience are like, Oh my God, she just shared that that bullshit story to her, I hope.

00:16:01:19 – 00:16:03:18
Speaker 1
Right, True. That’s going to be real bad.

00:16:03:19 – 00:16:21:18
Speaker 3
So you get sick. A hit in Paris for her and it’s just like you’re like super reacting to it. It’s like you’re there with her, like you’re her conscience or something. Like, Girl, don’t do that. Don’t do. She’s not listening. Then we’re going on to another journey and it’s like, Okay, okay, look, you’re trying to wait. What are you doing?

00:16:21:18 – 00:16:50:04
Speaker 3
What? I was, like, yelling the entire time at her because I was like, she’s just. She is just. Of course, she has such a backstory. I just want to say, like, watching this after, as you know, I completed you with Joe Goldberg, Netflix. And as you know, with that show, that’s another killer. That’s another guy who, you know, he has like this fantasy in his head and he kills.

00:16:50:09 – 00:17:08:00
Speaker 3
So seeing her in a different flavor of that, I, I don’t know why I was like, hoping that maybe maybe something maybe something will turn her around. Maybe something will be like, hey, I’m doing too much, you know? But then you have so many others.

00:17:08:07 – 00:17:09:21
Speaker 1
Oh, that was episode five.

00:17:10:16 – 00:17:11:05
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:17:11:15 – 00:17:25:18
Speaker 1
Episode That was the only episode in which she encountered pushback. Out of all seven episodes, things seemed to work out for her except for seven and five. But like five was like, Oh, here is a direct consequence to your actions.

00:17:26:09 – 00:17:26:22
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:17:28:00 – 00:17:43:10
Speaker 1
Oh, you thought you were good? Because I could like for a minute she’s she’s like on a streak, like four episodes. She’s honest. Three as she gets episode five and you’re thinking she’s going to like, she’s got to do something bigger. She’s going to take it back to the roots, and then it’s like, Oh, never mind. They were ready.

00:17:43:10 – 00:17:49:12
Speaker 1
They were more than ready. And they were like, Do not do this again. It will not end well. You think it will end?

00:17:50:17 – 00:18:15:00
Speaker 3
I do like similar to this. Similar Donal how he writes he likes taking headlines, you know, Internet headlines, newspaper stuff. That’s how the show was created. So a lot of Internet culture is. So when he’s saying, like this happened in real life, yes, this happened to Beyonce or are this instance happened with some other fans, but how he wrote the show, he just had it on to this one person.

00:18:15:05 – 00:18:29:13
Speaker 3
So all the crazy. So there’s going to be some scenes, Amy, where you might have heard in the news happened to be on set or a Beyoncé fan did some crazy shit and it was her in the show. So it’s like, Oh.

00:18:30:05 – 00:18:37:20
Speaker 4
I see what you mean. So yeah, Wait, so these are actual things that happen in, in our reality. Oh, yeah, Yeah. We’re to fit this person the.

00:18:38:14 – 00:19:07:18
Speaker 3
Part where he’s like, this is true. It’s that’s interesting. The fictional so forth I think. Oh yeah. He ties that in and that kind of offers social commentary on not only that this happened and you guys are like watching they’re saying this was crazy, but yes, it’s actually happened. So that’s that’s a message to how rabid like fandom and culture and then Twitter culture on top of that, how people take it so seriously and people take it so seriously.

00:19:08:02 – 00:19:11:08
Speaker 3
And that’s what motivates her to do what she does.

00:19:12:21 – 00:19:14:06
Speaker 1
And also shows.

00:19:14:21 – 00:19:15:09
Speaker 3
Yeah, go ahead.

00:19:16:20 – 00:19:37:23
Speaker 1
It also shows you that people are different than who they are in real life. Like, I think a lot of what the show tackles is that, oh, this is a relatively nice person, but they have this secret on line life of shit posting just because they like riling people up and because trolling anonymity kind of serves as a shield.

00:19:38:00 – 00:19:46:07
Speaker 1
Because like, who’s really going to go and find you and enact their revenge? And this show shows like there is someone who will come and find you if you.

00:19:46:07 – 00:19:46:20
Speaker 3
Have the time.

00:19:46:20 – 00:19:53:11
Speaker 1
Someone that they like, they have the time and will terminator their way to you by any means possible.

00:19:54:08 – 00:20:08:19
Speaker 3
And as we see because it’s like you hear that Twitter as well. Yeah. Zach, I was going to say that you hear about that on Twitter where we had a moment of people doxing each other because they were mad. She takes it five steps further where she will find where you are because she.

00:20:08:19 – 00:20:09:18
Speaker 1
Saw Well, the thing is.

00:20:10:00 – 00:20:10:15
Speaker 3
You somewhere.

00:20:10:16 – 00:20:13:22
Speaker 1
It’s it’s not even her like she’s getting it from the hive.

00:20:14:14 – 00:20:15:04
Speaker 3
Yeah, that’s true.

00:20:15:04 – 00:20:27:19
Speaker 1
Hive will be like because like, people often post these doxing things and like, want someone to do something so they won’t even do. They’ll be like, Oh, look, I found someone’s thing. Someone else should go have a word with them or go solve the problem.

00:20:27:19 – 00:20:28:20
Speaker 3
And she’s like, And they’ll put.

00:20:28:21 – 00:20:54:20
Speaker 1
It up there and then they’ll turn away from it. Basically be like, great. Like, Oh, no one’s going to act on this. So I’m not really a part I’m not an accessory to their harm because, oh, it’s the internet. No one take them seriously anyway. But this person is actively engaging with their threat, with their Twitter thread, finding what they’re posting and then acting on it, which is like another wild piece of the story of like this.

00:20:54:20 – 00:21:03:23
Speaker 1
It’s not just her, it’s everyone around her who is also basically providing support to help her do all these murders.

00:21:04:08 – 00:21:21:08
Speaker 3
You just keep saying stuff. I do want to like highlight that Molly Obama Yes, Malia Obama wrote episode six of the show. It’s the shortest episode, 15 minutes because apparently she is into society. And so this is.

00:21:22:19 – 00:21:32:00
Speaker 1
Episode six is the mockumentary. She wrote the mockumentary which runs okay, that’s that girl. Bye. Which is the.

00:21:32:00 – 00:21:39:09
Speaker 3
Yeah, Girl by That was the episode she wrote. And this was her debut. Yeah. And it was well-received. So again, our.

00:21:39:09 – 00:21:39:18
Speaker 1
Credits.

00:21:39:19 – 00:21:56:09
Speaker 3
To see more stories from her. She’s fresh out of Harvard. I’m gonna go over her love, her talent. So this was her big boost. And so I’m hoping to see more from Aliyah and her very first child. Yeah, I was, like.

00:21:57:00 – 00:22:00:20
Speaker 1
Writing credit. She has an A&E page with her very first writing credit on it.

00:22:00:20 – 00:22:05:22
Speaker 3
Now was like, I’m so proud of her. So, yeah, you guys.

00:22:06:03 – 00:22:26:08
Speaker 1
Didn’t ring a bell. Yeah, check it out. It’s got one of the it’s got a lot of like standout older black actors and actresses that a lot of us kind of grew up on. And a lot of the younger ones who were on TikTok and Twitch who are stepping in to the front of the camera. Ricky Thompson is one of them.

00:22:26:08 – 00:22:49:08
Speaker 1
Yep. So five who plays the Verizon Wireless worker. And I’m like, Oh, look at him. You have him do his daily affirmations. Now he has his acting credit. And also it also has our very favorite, the the one, the only they didn’t come to see you, OTIS Mr.. Mr. David Ruffin is also in the series. So I was like the demographic as David represent this we’re fighting.

00:22:49:12 – 00:23:11:19
Speaker 3
I over the he pulled some strings to cause this like actors all over like you have the young the old social influence like he got them in and they are great also he of course he knows Beyoncé because of the Lion King movie they did So he actually had to check in and be like, Hey, I’m writing the story.

00:23:12:00 – 00:23:31:18
Speaker 3
It’s definitely about you, but it’s not about you just lying, you know? And she was okay with it because I was like, You know how Beyonce is. But she gave the approval of the show to be greenlit because, yeah, there’s a lot of as you know, Beyonce sadness and and that aspect of that character and what she represents in her music.

00:23:32:10 – 00:23:51:03
Speaker 3
Any if you see like when the main character is watching her music video and her music, there’s definitely a period where there’s a very Lemonade album coming out, you know, very like it’s it’s spot on. And I like that. It’s almost like if this was another dimension and this song, they’re going to just be on set more.

00:23:51:03 – 00:23:52:11
Speaker 4
Diverse and Beyonce’s.

00:23:52:11 – 00:23:55:03
Speaker 3
Yes, yes, yes. And it really and.

00:23:55:04 – 00:24:19:21
Speaker 1
Also and when it also sparked some other controversy as well. Not only do we get the Donald Glover controversy, we got the Chloe Bailey in a very hot and spicy scene controversy. Yes. That also pops up on the Internet where people for some reason forget that acting is acting. And I truly believe that’s the sex scene. And the show was real and were.

00:24:21:07 – 00:24:22:13
Speaker 3
Really for anything, though.

00:24:22:23 – 00:24:35:00
Speaker 1
And I would just like you all know that this is important, right? This is these are just actors. They’re not just on set, just going at it with a whole lighting crew around them. This is a film older.

00:24:35:00 – 00:24:40:17
Speaker 3
She’s in her twenties, like acting for a minute, but okay. A show.

00:24:40:17 – 00:24:44:15
Speaker 1
About fan culture is being directly impacted by fan culture.

00:24:44:16 – 00:25:01:21
Speaker 3
Right? Exactly. Exactly. But yes, I highly, highly recommend checking out the show. It’s a breath of fresh air. It’s like very it is a very unique thing out there. Definitely check that out. I am looking for it on Amazon. Yeah, it’s on Amazon Prime right now.

00:25:01:21 – 00:25:03:06
Speaker 1
So all episodes are out.

00:25:04:03 – 00:25:08:09
Speaker 3
All episodes are out. Yes, you can binge it, but like you might want to take your time.

00:25:08:23 – 00:25:10:02
Speaker 1
To think that’s our watch.

00:25:10:02 – 00:25:10:06
Speaker 4
It.

00:25:11:00 – 00:25:27:07
Speaker 3
And that’s that movie fun. So you mean you’re here? We’re going to jump into Picard, probably third season a.k.a Next Generation reunion tour. A lot is going on.

00:25:27:22 – 00:25:43:05
Speaker 4
Can I say something? This last episode should have been them damn sheds, because that’s what I felt like. Geordi and Picard were like these. They’re kids. These damn kids. Sure enough, some kids they did. Anyway, it’s good.

00:25:43:14 – 00:26:04:10
Speaker 3
To know that a lot has gone on. I don’t even know if I can put this shortly. Okay, So as you know, Picard, he wanted to write his memoirs. He got a message from, you know, that really pressure, as you know, representing from next year. I hadn’t seen that in like 30, 20, 30 years.

00:26:04:18 – 00:26:05:06
Speaker 4
21.

00:26:05:06 – 00:26:31:18
Speaker 3
Years. So he’s like, oh, she must know whatever that moves towards them being chased by. They didn’t know at the time who was chasing them. He brings Riker along too, because Riker has to join along. Each episode we’re getting more and more with more character. So, you know, then we meet up with seven and. And then the new my new favorite character, Shaw.

00:26:31:18 – 00:26:32:00
Speaker 2
Yeah.

00:26:32:08 – 00:26:34:13
Speaker 3
Your character, who I read.

00:26:34:14 – 00:26:50:21
Speaker 2
I’m not surprised that he became The Dearie. There was a point in that first episode with him that I was like, Man, if he doesn’t turn out to be a bad guy, we’re going to love the hell out of this character, right? Yeah, sure. It’s our it’s that’s hard. Really. Good luck.

00:26:50:21 – 00:26:51:21
Speaker 4
It’s as.

00:26:53:03 – 00:27:08:10
Speaker 3
Though. Yeah. So we’re have the gain on a ship running away from bad aliens that turn out to be changelings. And so Marlin, those type of aliens, they kind of shapeshift but like, crazy shapeshift to the point where.

00:27:08:10 – 00:27:12:10
Speaker 2
You, you know, deep space nine a little bit.

00:27:12:11 – 00:27:17:15
Speaker 1
No I did I, I followed Raymond’s very clear and.

00:27:17:18 – 00:27:19:19
Speaker 3
The script Yeah that’s right She is guy I.

00:27:19:21 – 00:27:20:08
Speaker 1
Watch all of it.

00:27:20:09 – 00:27:20:18
Speaker 2
You got the.

00:27:20:18 – 00:27:21:04
Speaker 4
Criminal.

00:27:21:04 – 00:27:24:09
Speaker 1
It was a really it was honestly, it was great. It’s a great energy.

00:27:24:15 – 00:27:29:20
Speaker 2
Yeah. There’s this there’s a there’s a changeling, a displacement. You.

00:27:29:21 – 00:27:31:15
Speaker 3
Oh, okay. Yeah. She’s.

00:27:31:19 – 00:27:32:19
Speaker 2
He’s the security of.

00:27:32:19 – 00:27:35:23
Speaker 4
Yeah.

00:27:35:23 – 00:27:37:06
Speaker 3
These new ones.

00:27:37:16 – 00:27:38:21
Speaker 4
Those are upgraded.

00:27:39:15 – 00:27:41:00
Speaker 1
Upgraded versions.

00:27:41:10 – 00:27:43:11
Speaker 4
Yeah. I don’t know how they did that. Curious.

00:27:43:12 – 00:27:45:01
Speaker 2
We’ll find out soon.

00:27:45:01 – 00:28:11:07
Speaker 3
Yeah, but because of this marlin, they can’t trust Starfleet because they infiltrated at the highest of the high. They’re on the run from the ones that are just bad with the crazy warship. So they’re on the run and they’re trying to figure out how to what to do. Basically. And then Picard also signs up on top of that that not only Beverly has been gone because she has a son and it’s his son.

00:28:11:07 – 00:28:16:14
Speaker 3
So he feels like he’s a daddy at like age 78 right now.

00:28:16:21 – 00:28:25:08
Speaker 4
Not even you know, he’s a he’s a he’s a he’s like a hundred now. He’s not even technically a human.

00:28:26:19 – 00:28:27:17
Speaker 2
His his.

00:28:27:17 – 00:28:49:00
Speaker 3
Self. He suffers here. But yeah, he’s he’s not and as we see in the episode but basically in this current episode because I know you love LeVar Burton it was just it was an episode where he got to be in it. We’re so happy to see Geordi La He he does not want to help Picard because it puts his his daughter is the is the pilot of the ship.

00:28:49:00 – 00:29:04:19
Speaker 3
So he’s like if you’re on the run, my daughter’s on the run. Don’t like it, But between Geordi, daughter and Picard son, they do some shenanigans to help the crew. And they’re just, you know, they tell there’s chemistry between them. And I’m like, Oh.

00:29:04:19 – 00:29:12:20
Speaker 4
No stories like Stew from my daughter. He was like, when my daughter dad.

00:29:12:20 – 00:29:23:08
Speaker 3
Oh, so cute. On the other side. Don’t forget the same story that we have with Raffi. And what’s worth is meditating on, which I think is a.

00:29:23:08 – 00:29:25:11
Speaker 4
Door he has found found his Zen.

00:29:25:21 – 00:29:26:20
Speaker 3
He found his.

00:29:26:21 – 00:29:29:21
Speaker 2
And I feel like that had to have been Michael Dawn’s idea.

00:29:29:22 – 00:29:30:12
Speaker 1
Like, I.

00:29:30:12 – 00:29:31:01
Speaker 4
Probably.

00:29:31:02 – 00:29:31:11
Speaker 1
Maybe.

00:29:31:12 – 00:29:44:20
Speaker 2
The past 10 to 15 years, Michael Dawn has really gotten into meditating and he was just like, I have to read this for my daughter. I’ve done everything else with this character. I played him for like 13, 14 years. Let me do let we do something different.

00:29:44:23 – 00:29:46:06
Speaker 1
For those damn teeth.

00:29:46:18 – 00:30:10:20
Speaker 3
To my two lines. But they too are working. They’re on the same type of mission, but they’re on ground. And when it comes to the latest episode that basically has everyone they found out what the thing that everyone’s after is this thing in this highly secure place. And it turns out to be Dana. Yes. Dana has been killed how many times?

00:30:10:20 – 00:30:30:04
Speaker 3
I say two or three times. But this data has all the forms he’s ever been in one body. And so knowing that the changelings are after him, they have to bring him on board. So that means the whole crew is together on a ship. They bring data online. And this is when you guys.

00:30:30:04 – 00:30:31:10
Speaker 4
They’re not after data.

00:30:31:18 – 00:30:39:00
Speaker 2
And I don’t want to do any spoilers at the last thing they. But they’re not after data. They’re not after data.

00:30:39:00 – 00:30:42:22
Speaker 4
Did they manifest the data’s the security system.

00:30:43:02 – 00:30:58:16
Speaker 3
Remember him because they knew what he what they stole. They needed him. Yeah, but that’s where we see that’s what they call it to now. But my question is, how many episodes are in the season?

00:30:59:01 – 00:30:59:12
Speaker 4
Ten.

00:30:59:12 – 00:31:00:12
Speaker 2
Think ten.

00:31:00:12 – 00:31:02:15
Speaker 3
Yeah. And this is the last season.

00:31:03:12 – 00:31:06:02
Speaker 2
You’ll miss what they said. That was the one.

00:31:06:02 – 00:31:11:00
Speaker 3
That even that was what they said. Six. But that was it was on six, right?

00:31:11:18 – 00:31:12:19
Speaker 2
Yes. So we have.

00:31:12:22 – 00:31:17:03
Speaker 3
Four more episodes. What are we doing?

00:31:17:11 – 00:31:19:21
Speaker 4
How many Don’t go, Oh, we’re going.

00:31:19:21 – 00:31:20:12
Speaker 3
To cover.

00:31:21:06 – 00:31:22:03
Speaker 2
What you.

00:31:22:03 – 00:31:25:01
Speaker 4
Just got to go through. We’re doing well. Is it going to work.

00:31:26:10 – 00:31:27:06
Speaker 3
More than halfway?

00:31:27:06 – 00:31:34:16
Speaker 4
Then how are we going to bring this to a close? Are we going to see Tasha Yard doing this somehow? Must be kind of cool. I like that.

00:31:35:08 – 00:31:35:18
Speaker 2
Hey, it’s.

00:31:36:04 – 00:31:39:21
Speaker 3
New season for Kathy. I’m not mad, but I.

00:31:39:21 – 00:31:41:05
Speaker 4
Was and they’re not going to.

00:31:41:09 – 00:31:48:15
Speaker 2
Know. Is there any next generation character that we haven’t seen yet? Like an.

00:31:48:15 – 00:31:52:13
Speaker 3
Episode tropical?

00:31:52:13 – 00:31:55:03
Speaker 2
I don’t think so. I think everyone’s here.

00:31:55:23 – 00:32:00:19
Speaker 4
I mean, when you say important, what do you mean by important? Because like there were quite a few. Yeah, but.

00:32:00:19 – 00:32:12:13
Speaker 2
There’s a billion bajillion. But I mean, like the senior staff, the main characters that got that got episodes for the most part, I think we did have seen everybody that we can see.

00:32:12:23 – 00:32:21:21
Speaker 4
It’d be cool if what’s her face came back, Commander. She’ll be the one who’s after Riker’s job. She was kind of significant at some point for like two episodes, but still some even.

00:32:22:00 – 00:32:23:01
Speaker 2
She’s not significant.

00:32:23:01 – 00:32:23:17
Speaker 4
I know.

00:32:24:02 – 00:32:42:11
Speaker 2
No, no, I can’t say I like the. Did we talk about already before I heard this, the lady who’s playing the main antagonist right now, she’s the daughter of Jeffrey Combs, which is kind of cool, really? I think I’m saying his name, right?

00:32:42:23 – 00:32:45:01
Speaker 4
No, wait, wait. Hold on, Wait.

00:32:45:02 – 00:33:02:21
Speaker 2
The maybe I’m saying his name wrong, but he was in he played a bunch of characters over Star Trek history. He was the main like translator for the for the Dominion and this space known. If it’s not Jeffrey Combs, then it’s something with a C weight. Last name.

00:33:02:21 – 00:33:04:04
Speaker 4
Oh, you mean Christopher?

00:33:04:06 – 00:33:05:06
Speaker 3
He played Christopher Reeve.

00:33:05:06 – 00:33:07:04
Speaker 4
Christopher Plummer, Right?

00:33:07:05 – 00:33:14:11
Speaker 2
Christopher Plummer Yeah. I thought it was another. I have maybe confused human beings. Oh, wait. Christopher Meyer.

00:33:14:11 – 00:33:19:22
Speaker 3
Christopher Plummer. Oh, okay. Okay. Tell us I’m being helpful.

00:33:19:22 – 00:33:26:12
Speaker 4
I think I use human beings. I think I sense that in the in the in the text and in the group chat a little while ago.

00:33:26:14 – 00:33:27:20
Speaker 2
Yeah, well.

00:33:28:06 – 00:33:29:15
Speaker 3
But cool.

00:33:29:15 – 00:33:37:18
Speaker 4
But, but you’re right. I think his daughter has been in other things, but I don’t know if she’s been in this particular series.

00:33:38:01 – 00:33:56:06
Speaker 2
But it’s cool. She’s doing a great job. This is I wasn’t sure I was at it as we talked about it maybe after the first two or three, and I wasn’t sure how well they were going to keep up what they were doing, even though this was feeling better than the other two seasons and it’s still feeling real strong.

00:33:57:22 – 00:33:58:12
Speaker 2
It’s I would.

00:33:58:13 – 00:34:05:10
Speaker 4
Say so gloomy, me so sad. I was so sad. I was crying. It was rather sad.

00:34:05:10 – 00:34:26:07
Speaker 2
So there’s a lot a lot they were happy doing. So I look forward to just kind of how they wrap it up. I feel like in Grand, epic fashion with the way this show has to kind of have an epic ending, I feel like there’s a good chance the ending will be kind of anticlimactic, but I honestly am pretty fine with that.

00:34:26:12 – 00:34:38:15
Speaker 2
If the rest of the rest of the ride getting there is a good time like it has been, I, I. That’s fine. They can, they can falter on the ending a little bit. Did you want to that’s the well we.

00:34:39:00 – 00:34:41:05
Speaker 4
First definitely going to happen no I think it’s going like.

00:34:41:07 – 00:34:44:08
Speaker 2
Yeah he’s definitely showing up because he was in season two so.

00:34:44:18 – 00:34:54:23
Speaker 4
If you want to make theories. Yeah like what you think is going to happen in three episodes because last last year we got all of them and I was like, Wow, I saw Smart.

00:34:56:01 – 00:35:11:22
Speaker 2
It was, it was I was I said, I don’t actually have any good ones this time. Really, I am really I wasn’t. I was actually very surprised by that like revelation at the end of how what they actually stole from me.

00:35:11:22 – 00:35:12:08
Speaker 4
Yeah.

00:35:12:15 – 00:35:15:17
Speaker 2
I was like, that’s what he told me. What did he do?

00:35:15:22 – 00:35:17:19
Speaker 3
Let him know?

00:35:19:03 – 00:35:24:14
Speaker 2
Yeah. Because I mean, especially with them being changelings like, yeah. So unless.

00:35:24:15 – 00:35:25:05
Speaker 4
The fans.

00:35:25:10 – 00:35:45:09
Speaker 2
Unless they use that to break the laws of physics, quote unquote, to like how they, how they’re hiding better. Now let’s not so let’s, we find out that that’s how they, how they’re doing that I don’t understand what they’re doing with that. I don’t think I’m going to guess anything either. Like I feel like we are missing. We’re still missing something for me to be able to guess what’s going to happen so.

00:35:45:19 – 00:35:49:23
Speaker 4
Well, I mean, based on what you just said, I have one theory.

00:35:50:02 – 00:35:50:10
Speaker 2
To it.

00:35:50:10 – 00:36:12:14
Speaker 4
That if how they’re based on how they’re hiding and what the event that’s approaching, there’s a reason for all this. If they have this particular thing and they’re doing what they’ve been doing and hiding and things, that might be their end goal, like, Oh, we’re going to go to this event. We’re going to use this as a way to destroy the Federation somehow.

00:36:12:14 – 00:36:12:19
Speaker 4
I don’t.

00:36:12:19 – 00:36:14:04
Speaker 2
Know. I don’t know how they do that.

00:36:14:04 – 00:36:17:09
Speaker 3
Oh, you mean like a puppet and and do something?

00:36:17:17 – 00:36:22:10
Speaker 4
I mean, if it’s technically what it is and it reads us, you scan it.

00:36:22:11 – 00:36:27:08
Speaker 2
There’s still the question of what what they need Jack for because they are hunting Jack for.

00:36:27:09 – 00:36:38:22
Speaker 4
I don’t know. That’s what I don’t get. But I do think it’s tied to the the, the event especially if yes they have that has to be that has to be part of the reason I’m assuming.

00:36:39:11 – 00:36:51:04
Speaker 2
Tonight is going to be titled day because they got to get there by then. That’s the best guess for of anything that I have so far. The title.

00:36:51:07 – 00:36:51:15
Speaker 4
First.

00:36:52:03 – 00:37:08:14
Speaker 2
You clearly that’s going to be the end of the show. Yeah I don’t actually have very many good which I guess is them doing a good job but I feel like there’s still some missing information that they just haven’t told us.

00:37:08:14 – 00:37:19:18
Speaker 4
You know, what might be cool is that the last episode is the is the end wording of the last episode of TNG. All good things must come to an end. Yeah.

00:37:19:19 – 00:37:23:22
Speaker 2
Oh, that would be cool. Must come to an end. They probably do that too.

00:37:23:23 – 00:37:25:21
Speaker 4
I hope they do, because that be really cool.

00:37:25:21 – 00:37:43:13
Speaker 2
They got to have everybody at the very least. The the other thing I’ll predict is that everyone’s going to end up on that bridge at some point because they’re split right now. Like they’re not all on the same ship anymore. By the end of that last episode, there’s two of them they have to go save. And there’s yes, they’re definitely going to save them.

00:37:43:17 – 00:37:48:06
Speaker 2
And they are they have to have a splash image of everyone on the bridge within the next couple of hours.

00:37:48:06 – 00:37:48:12
Speaker 3
Making.

00:37:48:21 – 00:37:57:17
Speaker 2
Sure, oh, yeah, it’s going to be real tender. Oh, yeah, Yeah. They’re all there. Yeah. No, that’s going to be very simple with the kids right there.

00:37:57:21 – 00:38:01:04
Speaker 4
I know, I know. It’s really cool.

00:38:02:07 – 00:38:02:13
Speaker 2
Yeah.

00:38:02:18 – 00:38:08:06
Speaker 4
So how does.

00:38:08:06 – 00:38:21:09
Speaker 2
I’m curious if they’re going to use this to backdoor pilot somebody. I actually really been liking Rafi and Wharfs dialog, but I just don’t think they’re going to bring Worf along for anything else after this show.

00:38:22:01 – 00:38:24:22
Speaker 4
I think probably if they if they do it, I feel for the tiny.

00:38:25:02 – 00:38:26:11
Speaker 3
Crew like most like.

00:38:26:11 – 00:38:27:16
Speaker 4
New and Fresh and.

00:38:27:16 – 00:38:29:04
Speaker 2
Shore and Hanson.

00:38:30:09 – 00:38:31:13
Speaker 4
The TV show would work.

00:38:31:20 – 00:38:33:10
Speaker 2
I think you like this.

00:38:34:04 – 00:38:50:12
Speaker 1
Do you feel like they were due to Worf, what they did to Lando, where it’s like you talk to that young clone. You and I should go to the galaxy together. At the end of the last Star Wars film was like, Are they going to be in venture together? It’s like a small pilot for this young clone and Lando Calrissian.

00:38:51:05 – 00:38:56:09
Speaker 2
And I don’t know what you’re talking about that never happened.

00:38:56:09 – 00:38:56:19
Speaker 4
That never.

00:38:56:19 – 00:39:05:01
Speaker 2
Happened. Bingo. They’ve already kind of done that dialog with is with Raffi and Worf. So it’s, it would be very far fetched.

00:39:05:19 – 00:39:06:13
Speaker 3
I would love it.

00:39:06:20 – 00:39:10:12
Speaker 2
It’s like they’re putting it together. Yeah.

00:39:11:12 – 00:39:12:18
Speaker 1
Especially Sue over that.

00:39:12:18 – 00:39:19:08
Speaker 2
She’s like, Yeah, well, yeah, he’s like, I’m too old for this fighting shit. And she’s the opposite of she’s like, what he used to be.

00:39:19:08 – 00:39:19:20
Speaker 3
I kind of get.

00:39:19:20 – 00:39:20:10
Speaker 2
Into that, right?

00:39:20:11 – 00:39:22:06
Speaker 3
Everything but everything.

00:39:22:18 – 00:39:26:01
Speaker 2
Right? So it’s a it’s a funny Lethal Weapon vibe.

00:39:26:01 – 00:39:27:13
Speaker 1
I like it. I like it a little bit.

00:39:27:17 – 00:39:28:03
Speaker 4
Yeah.

00:39:28:10 – 00:39:31:09
Speaker 3
Yeah, definitely. And space it.

00:39:31:09 – 00:39:32:18
Speaker 2
Space with spies.

00:39:33:06 – 00:40:02:11
Speaker 3
Huh? I’m hoping for that, though. Yeah, That’s what we have so far. We will keep y’all listeners updated as we head towards the last four episodes of the season. It’s been a wonderful ride and I do not want to get off. But yeah, we have to. Virtually. Speaking of sci fi space shows that we love, let’s jump back more into The Mandalorian now that we have signed up to this week’s episode.

00:40:02:11 – 00:40:21:13
Speaker 3
Episode four. It feels so much longer because of last week’s episode. But yeah, we’re all going for how you feel about the season so far and how much and what What have you liked since this season has introduced with some cool things, like scenes.

00:40:21:13 – 00:40:44:02
Speaker 1
I like that the keep the helmet on. I feel like that was I feel like a lot of you were kind of like Gina just then. Just take it off his helmet every chance he gets. Now, after that, it’s like that. Cool. He’s keeping the helmet on. I’m sure that means, like Pedro and Katie get to do just a lot of the booth work, which I’m sure is great, but I am liking them.

00:40:44:02 – 00:41:15:22
Speaker 1
They’re just keeping to more of like, okay, we’re going to ground ourselves in this kind of religious kind of experience or cults in some perspectives, a lot more. And I also have gotten okay with understanding that this version of the Mandalorians are basically lost in a sense, like they’re trying to keep certain aspects of their hunting culture, but they’re just not what they used to be, which is why in two episodes now, they just keep getting shot by these animals.

00:41:16:12 – 00:41:19:01
Speaker 1
They just keep hitting these animals. And I’m like.

00:41:19:01 – 00:41:19:22
Speaker 3
You.

00:41:19:22 – 00:41:29:08
Speaker 1
You chose to be here with your defensive camo crew and they’re like, Yeah, that’s like the fourth. It’s the fourth battling right now. I feel like.

00:41:30:06 – 00:41:48:23
Speaker 2
After that episode I was like, See, all our Lord just want this to happen. Like, I don’t think there’s I don’t think this is the choice. I like have zero defenses so that things can attack you, so that you all can go on a hunt or you can go train or be bad. That’s the way it’s like this is the way I am.

00:41:49:07 – 00:41:50:14
Speaker 2
I don’t.

00:41:50:19 – 00:41:51:15
Speaker 1
I feel like.

00:41:51:15 – 00:42:23:13
Speaker 2
You could have absolutely have protected yourselves differently from this creature, but also it wouldn’t. Got us an interesting episode to see Bo-katan doing so by being a leader like she has been. Then like really given a friend of my was telling me that there are people reacting online that were like this Bo-katan This is just Star Wars again, trying to like force a female character to be really strong and everybody really and I was like, that was like, I clearly have not watched Clone Wars or Rebels.

00:42:23:19 – 00:42:26:17
Speaker 2
This your word? Yeah. Was like you.

00:42:26:19 – 00:42:27:05
Speaker 1
Clearly.

00:42:27:13 – 00:42:32:14
Speaker 2
What? You clearly don’t know who this character is because she’s been badass for a long time.

00:42:34:05 – 00:42:57:21
Speaker 1
And also it’s important to emphasize that these are not the same mandalorians as your as your favorite Boba Fett. These these are clearly people who are better, who are they are struggling. And it’s very clear that Bo-katan is like in a whole other ballpark. And then this like clan happens to be, and it’s why she’s like, I have a game plan, I know where to go.

00:42:58:00 – 00:43:04:19
Speaker 1
It’s why she went and got a ship instead of turning her jetpack on and off flying after her creature.

00:43:04:19 – 00:43:05:13
Speaker 3
She was like, We’re going to get.

00:43:05:13 – 00:43:21:02
Speaker 1
Creature has nature wings so they can go for as long as they want. Rick says you retooled versions of your fueled jetpacks. I tell you, maybe a hundred feet. You there in like, oh, oh, oh, go down. Oh, I can’t. Oh, well, I guess the kid’s gone now and like, no, there’s a ship back here.

00:43:21:02 – 00:43:21:18
Speaker 3
It seems just like.

00:43:21:18 – 00:43:33:00
Speaker 1
Like we have ships. What are you all doing? Yeah, What, are you wasting fuel? There’s a ship. All of you should have one. Just awesome. Why are we using ships more? Just blast is great. So, anyway, thank you.

00:43:33:00 – 00:43:34:00
Speaker 2
It was real lucky.

00:43:34:13 – 00:43:35:06
Speaker 1
Oh, yes.

00:43:35:13 – 00:43:37:18
Speaker 4
Yeah, real.

00:43:37:18 – 00:43:41:21
Speaker 1
And I’m like that had air for that.

00:43:41:21 – 00:43:43:11
Speaker 4
Time is ticking, people.

00:43:43:12 – 00:43:46:09
Speaker 3
And the stomach isn’t there acid down there you saw.

00:43:46:17 – 00:43:52:15
Speaker 2
Yeah there’s that I think that’s a lot of my other big covers. There’s some CORNISH this season. Yeah.

00:43:53:04 – 00:43:55:07
Speaker 1
Yeah, that’s my son.

00:43:55:13 – 00:44:01:19
Speaker 2
That’s Courtney. Of course that is that my son is was Courtney. Every single time I felt, baby, they they.

00:44:01:19 – 00:44:02:10
Speaker 1
Were probably.

00:44:02:10 – 00:44:06:09
Speaker 2
Doing this to season one of season two, and I didn’t see it as much. But literally.

00:44:06:09 – 00:44:08:10
Speaker 3
I think it’s like all Star Wars thing now.

00:44:08:17 – 00:44:29:17
Speaker 2
Is this I think it’s a Star Wars thing now, but every time The Mandalorian it was that it was a dogfight in episode three at the beginning of it, where they were flying and trying to fight off the tie interceptors. And every time he shot and destroyed a thing in his ship, they played the little well, the little Mandalorian.

00:44:29:17 – 00:44:31:19
Speaker 2
So every single time.

00:44:32:17 – 00:44:35:22
Speaker 1
You know, they’re just like, Are we watching? You want to get out of it?

00:44:36:17 – 00:44:37:07
Speaker 2
Yes.

00:44:37:11 – 00:44:43:09
Speaker 1
Yes. So that was his first big yes.

00:44:44:13 – 00:45:05:21
Speaker 2
So don’t forget the dad joke in the first episode with with the robot. I forgot what it was now, but it was it was almost as bad as let’s give him a hand when he’s fired, when he blew up a hand or something. But I just forgot the robot was crawling towards them and he said something and I was just like, that is the corniest line of dialog of all time.

00:45:06:21 – 00:45:10:01
Speaker 2
It’s shot. Yeah, there’s some there’s shit.

00:45:10:06 – 00:45:12:03
Speaker 3
Yes, it is.

00:45:12:03 – 00:45:38:19
Speaker 2
Yeah it was, Yeah, it was something like that. There’s some interesting stuff in here. I, I really liked the worldbuilding in episode three. We haven’t seen The New Republic at all, so like getting a chance to see some. Of course it was really cool and like just what they’re doing with the Empire, the people that were working for the Empire when it collapsed and how they’re how they’re reforming them in some ways and stuff.

00:45:39:13 – 00:45:50:03
Speaker 2
That was cool. I didn’t see that twist coming at the end of the night episode at all. But a boy very much serving.

00:45:50:03 – 00:45:51:13
Speaker 1
Yeah, that our boy, Right.

00:45:53:03 – 00:45:53:18
Speaker 2
But boy.

00:45:54:08 – 00:45:57:11
Speaker 1
Our boy. I mean Jar Jar Binks.

00:45:57:16 – 00:45:58:23
Speaker 2
Oh, I wasn’t talking about him.

00:45:58:23 – 00:45:59:16
Speaker 4
Another episode.

00:45:59:16 – 00:46:04:00
Speaker 2
I’m talking about this episode that the scientists in the office Got you.

00:46:04:00 – 00:46:05:16
Speaker 1
Got you. Hey, there were a lot happening.

00:46:06:00 – 00:46:06:23
Speaker 2
There was. There was.

00:46:07:13 – 00:46:16:07
Speaker 3
This episode was two episodes in one. That’s why we’re doing episode four. I felt like I so sick. But yeah, yeah, that was a great story. Yeah.

00:46:16:17 – 00:46:29:16
Speaker 2
It was. That was a good story. You’re and you’re right about Jar Jar Binks actor. I was definitely watching that episode and was like, Oh yeah, they remember that Jedis are supposed to know how to fight. Yeah, right.

00:46:30:05 – 00:46:31:02
Speaker 3
He was so bad.

00:46:31:02 – 00:46:34:14
Speaker 1
Ass and not playing tag with their lightsabers.

00:46:34:16 – 00:46:35:01
Speaker 2
Yeah.

00:46:35:19 – 00:46:39:20
Speaker 1
Or just standing there with with no music and just doing cartwheels around his upper.

00:46:40:10 – 00:46:41:14
Speaker 3
Right, right, right, right.

00:46:42:05 – 00:46:56:13
Speaker 1
I don’t know what happened. I mean, people could shit on some of the prequels as much as you want, but they gave us A-plus like lightsaber fights. Like they. They were on the edge of your seat. It was happening. People were doing flips off the walls. Awesome lightsabers, grabbing the Air Force.

00:46:56:13 – 00:46:57:04
Speaker 3
I mean, where.

00:46:57:20 – 00:46:58:11
Speaker 1
Things do.

00:46:58:11 – 00:46:58:20
Speaker 4
Happen.

00:47:00:08 – 00:47:14:06
Speaker 2
I mean, there’s there’s going to be the great logic of all of that. All of those ways of fighting were forgotten after the Jedi purge. And yeah, they could have done a slightly better job there. It just was.

00:47:14:10 – 00:47:33:20
Speaker 1
And it was lame and very clear of like, we want to spend money on that. We’ll spend money on some of these VFX things, but as far as lightsaber fighting only pull it out to like show the audience and seem kind of cool and then immediately get it knocked out of your hand and lost somewhere and then spend the fight trying to get it back.

00:47:34:00 – 00:47:35:14
Speaker 1
And the more time you get it back, the fights over.

00:47:36:07 – 00:47:38:07
Speaker 3
Oh, I hate it. Yeah.

00:47:38:15 – 00:48:13:07
Speaker 1
Yeah. So, but I mean, I think the season is very clear. It’s very clear that they’ve put some of the like some of the grogu stuff will in, but they seem to be really kind of planning on giving us more of this Mandalorian kind of and Game of Thrones It was it was for Jon Snow like we’re getting this kind of historical thing that might happen where the Michael saw might mean something it’s going to be a resurgence of the clan.

00:48:13:12 – 00:48:31:00
Speaker 1
Something’s going to happen in a big way. It’s going to change within the Mandalorian like community. So we’re kind of getting pieces of that we know that Beau happened to see the Michael Star, which, you know, according to Wikipedia, I don’t know if it swims underwater like that. So it’s like, is it a vision? Is it a real thing?

00:48:31:07 – 00:48:48:17
Speaker 1
Everyone’s trying to figure it out. What is it you happen to see? Does that vision affect her or does it affect then? Does it affect the both of them? This is a lot of that, the air. And then we, of course, got to figure out how to grow GRU. Like, what did you do with Luke? Like you kind of pop back in and we kind of step past that.

00:48:48:17 – 00:49:09:18
Speaker 1
But like, let’s also talk about some of your past and we also are getting this backstory with this really messed up brainwashing program going on with the good guys, apparently. So there’s a lot happening this evening. I’m wondering I’m wondering how they’re going to try to funnel it by the end of it all.

00:49:10:18 – 00:49:41:21
Speaker 3
I am enjoying how there’s so much action in every episode now. Like this is definitely, to me a way more action oriented season where there’s talking, but then there’s like, however you want to talk about the fight, but there’s fighting and action. Like I, I like when they were fighting the, the creature in this episode it just looked nice to see Mandalorians working together in their way, sort of like seeing them in ways where they’re always taking down stormtroopers and stuff.

00:49:41:21 – 00:49:55:04
Speaker 3
It’s just seeing them being in their simple habitat. However, working together because them flying around and stabbing and trying to get the kid that was I was like, okay, okay, that’s that’s pretty engaging.

00:49:55:04 – 00:49:55:13
Speaker 1
Yeah.

00:49:56:01 – 00:50:20:03
Speaker 3
Yeah. I was like, This is something I’ve never really seen before and I appreciate. I appreciate them for orchestrating that on the screen to be like, Yeah, you’ve thought of it, but you’ve never seen it. And I’m like, Okay, well, what else are you guys going to do moving forward? And yeah, same with Roku and in seen like has he come to a place mentally where you know he’s blocked so much stuff.

00:50:20:03 – 00:50:40:09
Speaker 3
I think he’s starting to open up. I think Luke’s training. Luke training has affected him where I think he’s in a safe place now that he’s in a community because it’s been a minute, because he’s been in a like a safe community, and I think his mind is starting to unlock things and we get to have an insider’s look of what happened before.

00:50:41:03 – 00:51:00:11
Speaker 3
I don’t know if that’s going to tie into future plot stuff, but at the same time, I was happy to see that and I want to see more. So I think they’re doing a good job in moving forward. However, I don’t know. I think the plot is very but I’m enjoying the little riots that we’re getting with these stories.

00:51:00:11 – 00:51:19:08
Speaker 2
Yeah, Yeah. I’m curious where they’re going. I, I feels there’s definitely some sort of rebuilding mandalore thing that they’ve are still working towards. But in the short term, it just kind of feels like an episode of the week Adventure right now, which is okay. Yes.

00:51:19:20 – 00:51:29:05
Speaker 4
I have a question about Mandalore So know that they know that it’s not like toxic, toxic and stuff. Why are they not going back like, great from like.

00:51:29:16 – 00:51:30:04
Speaker 2
I mean.

00:51:30:04 – 00:51:33:09
Speaker 4
We can we can live there now, like, let’s go reclaim our.

00:51:33:17 – 00:51:34:08
Speaker 1
Could they.

00:51:34:22 – 00:51:35:09
Speaker 4
Why haven’t.

00:51:35:11 – 00:51:48:02
Speaker 1
We went there? It’s pretty desolate. I mean, I think the last time you saw it, it was mostly like rock and some crystals. So even if they wanted to go back, like, they would need some kind of terraforming efforts.

00:51:48:04 – 00:51:56:11
Speaker 2
To make the land livable. I hear you mean. The question is, why aren’t they doing that? And yeah, I don’t I don’t have a good answer for you other than.

00:51:56:14 – 00:51:58:09
Speaker 4
Like here I have quarters and I was like.

00:51:58:10 – 00:51:59:19
Speaker 2
And then, yeah.

00:52:00:02 – 00:52:01:14
Speaker 4
I mean.

00:52:02:02 – 00:52:04:09
Speaker 3
You’re you things are always eating you every day.

00:52:04:17 – 00:52:28:21
Speaker 2
My mistake or at the very least go where something might eat you Amanda lawyer which is you know, so yeah I, I, I agree with you and I’m like, maybe it’s coming the season. Maybe that’s the season. I thought it was this season’s point. Maybe it’s fourth season, 4.0. Yeah. I’m curious what is when they will do that.

00:52:29:05 – 00:52:37:14
Speaker 2
I want to see Gregor with this helmet on after he says this is the way or the way this is. She was one way or the other.

00:52:38:02 – 00:52:39:09
Speaker 3
And I was like, you said it.

00:52:40:03 – 00:52:58:14
Speaker 2
Well, I liked that was a really fun thing, because he was they were they were in the car and he says something and then they immediately start getting fired on. And I was like, Oh, he was trying to tell them that someone’s that something is coming. And I was like, That was cute. That was adorable and comfortable. Yeah, he’s using the force war.

00:52:59:14 – 00:53:14:10
Speaker 3
So he’s kind of getting like a family thing. You know, all the people who care about him, they’re like his uncles and aunts. But now that Bo-katan is here, it’s like now he has kind of, like a mother figure. He’s like a dad. The army is like a grandma. I’m like, he’s in some family structure.

00:53:14:15 – 00:53:15:13
Speaker 2
Guy Yes.

00:53:15:13 – 00:53:16:04
Speaker 4
And I love.

00:53:17:18 – 00:53:22:06
Speaker 3
That little kid who sort of like it’s true and that makes me so happy.

00:53:22:18 – 00:53:23:23
Speaker 4
So what happens?

00:53:24:19 – 00:53:52:18
Speaker 1
Droids that and also I think like me, I’m I’m so like think about your question because I’m wondering if it’s like also a facet of this specific sect where it’s like we will not accept help to go back unless we go back on our own. So I’m wondering if it’s going to be like a line to like, we need to create our own sense or we need to like, figure out how we’re all going to get there or we need to, like, get a bigger group or we need to wait until everyone comes to us.

00:53:52:19 – 00:54:10:11
Speaker 1
Like, maybe we find a little like she’s been reaching out to everyone and like, she’s been subtly pooling their networks together and then maybe like, Hey, I’ve called everyone, we’re ready to go back. Who knows? But I think there’s there’s got to be some like excuses going to be brought up of like, we can’t go because we need the X, y, Z thing.

00:54:11:00 – 00:54:42:04
Speaker 1
And hey then and Bo, do you want to go take a small group of us to get the X, Y, Z thing so we can unite everybody and go, You mean they also know that he has the darksaber too? So it’s like he needs to visibly do something to maybe pull everyone back because maybe like, hey, we’re all not going back unless we all go back is also a thing of like, if you’re going to tell everyone we’re going back, then we’ll all go back or we’re not going to have like one part of us will go back and the other part doesn’t know where we’re going because for any reason.

00:54:42:14 – 00:54:45:19
Speaker 3
Does that suddenly, since everyone has to go back.

00:54:46:05 – 00:54:48:12
Speaker 1
Ohana means family. We got to go back.

00:54:49:00 – 00:54:51:22
Speaker 2
Okay. We got to go back.

00:54:52:02 – 00:54:57:18
Speaker 4
Why deal?

00:54:59:07 – 00:55:10:14
Speaker 3
Well, we’ll keep you updated with that. I believe there’s ten episodes this season, so you have six more episodes. Where are we going before?

00:55:10:14 – 00:55:12:10
Speaker 2
I think we’re halfway done. I think it’s eight.

00:55:13:03 – 00:55:13:19
Speaker 3
Really?

00:55:14:13 – 00:55:16:00
Speaker 1
I think so. I’ll leave that.

00:55:16:00 – 00:55:17:22
Speaker 3
Where they shorten season.

00:55:18:11 – 00:55:19:11
Speaker 2
No, it’s always been eight.

00:55:19:19 – 00:55:21:20
Speaker 3
Yeah, really only three.

00:55:21:22 – 00:55:25:19
Speaker 4
So we’re basically ending Star Trek and start at the same time.

00:55:26:06 – 00:55:30:05
Speaker 2
Yes, actually we might be ending Mandalorian sooner than Star Trek.

00:55:30:08 – 00:55:31:01
Speaker 4
Oh no, that’s.

00:55:31:05 – 00:55:32:23
Speaker 1
Only if it’s only eight. Episode Season three.

00:55:34:05 – 00:55:35:16
Speaker 4
We’re on episode what now?

00:55:35:17 – 00:55:36:14
Speaker 1
Five Just give.

00:55:37:02 – 00:55:38:06
Speaker 2
You just the same week. No.

00:55:38:18 – 00:55:40:13
Speaker 1
Sorry. Sorry. Four came out today.

00:55:40:16 – 00:55:41:14
Speaker 2
Yeah, maybe it’s the same way.

00:55:41:21 – 00:55:42:06
Speaker 3
So, yeah, I.

00:55:42:08 – 00:55:45:02
Speaker 1
Guess we’re not coming at the halfway point.

00:55:45:16 – 00:55:46:03
Speaker 3
Down.

00:55:47:00 – 00:55:55:03
Speaker 1
Now, but used to start seeing some game changer. So I seeing a whole lot of stuff happen.

00:55:55:03 – 00:56:06:01
Speaker 3
So we’ll see. Yeah. So. Well, then, I think you have something wonderful to share with us. Or is it t? I can’t tell.

00:56:06:07 – 00:56:27:03
Speaker 1
I got something to share with you. Okay, so I don’t know if you saw a couple of trailers coming out. There’s a lot of fun stuff coming out in April. There are two things in particular. The first thing is a little DreamWorks project called Ruby Gill Men Teenage crack in for the folks that brought you Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon.

00:56:27:03 – 00:56:55:15
Speaker 1
So now the reason why I’m bringing up this particular movie is because it’s about it’s it’s under the sea. And there’s also a Disney film that’s under the sea. And in this film, the heroes are the crackheads and the villains are the mermaids, and they’re in there in high school. There’s a particular mermaid that’s a that’s the villain that has blue eyes and long red hair and is the first mermaid you see at the high school.

00:56:56:17 – 00:57:22:10
Speaker 1
And immediately everyone’s like, That’s Ariel. Ariel is being depicted in this DreamWorks film as ultimately being the villain of this story. Well, and it’s about this young crack and girl who’s discovering that, oh, my goodness, there are these like, you know, really cool crack ins who are trying to save the sea. But the mermaids came in power and are lying to everyone and I need to go and save the day.

00:57:23:05 – 00:57:35:19
Speaker 1
And that Little Mermaid thing also, just everyone’s like, oh my God, this is hilarious. This is so good. This is a call out to Disney. And I just wanted to let you know that, hey, that’s coming out April 19th.

00:57:36:22 – 00:57:38:07
Speaker 4
Is this an animated thing?

00:57:38:13 – 00:57:44:05
Speaker 1
Yeah, it’s an animated thing that’ll look very much like how to train your dragon. If you think about animation style.

00:57:45:09 – 00:57:47:21
Speaker 3
As a movie or. A series.

00:57:47:22 – 00:57:55:00
Speaker 1
It is. It’s a movie. And it’s coming out on.

00:57:55:00 – 00:57:55:05
Speaker 2
Yeah.

00:57:55:12 – 00:57:58:21
Speaker 1
I think it’s a movie released in 30th.

00:57:59:18 – 00:58:01:19
Speaker 2
Then they released it June 30th.

00:58:02:14 – 00:58:03:16
Speaker 3
Oh, Summer got a.

00:58:04:04 – 00:58:12:05
Speaker 2
Lana Condor, Toni Collette. Annie Murphy. Sam Richardson. Anyway, why Jane Fonda?

00:58:12:22 – 00:58:15:13
Speaker 3
Wow. Oh, damn. That’s impressive cast.

00:58:16:05 – 00:58:18:06
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like a little cast going on.

00:58:19:11 – 00:58:41:17
Speaker 1
And the Disney Little Mermaid film with Allie Bailey comes out May 26, and then a month later comes the shade. Be interesting. I wish they released that same week. That wasn’t funny. But you also want to get their money back. So probably not going to here. At least that brings me back. So I understand now that is coming out was huge.

00:58:42:19 – 00:58:55:00
Speaker 1
Huge because Van Dike’s a bond, decided to go into their toy box and say, What if we did another mighty Morphin Power Rangers film and what have you brought back? So does.

00:58:55:10 – 00:58:55:20
Speaker 4
That sound.

00:58:55:22 – 00:58:56:07
Speaker 3
Good.

00:58:56:12 – 00:59:36:14
Speaker 1
The 30th, 30th anniversary special on Netflix is going to be called Mighty Morphin Power Rangers once and Always Dangerous. And what’s really sad about this film is that this film basically starts with an acknowledgment of an important O.G. character, the Yellow Ranger. Trini happens to die in this, which I think is a first for Power Rangers. Of course, we’re just going to, like, have this character just just not ever come back, just like that, like be replaced by, Oh, they’re going to die in this actual property and we’re going to see it and it’s going to be a thing.

00:59:36:14 – 01:00:02:21
Speaker 1
And also that. So basically Trini dies in a battle and the Rangers are all coming back to fight Rita Raposo, who’s gone full robot in order to team up and fight back to make sure that their old nemesis is gone. Their past is an Erased. And what’s really cool is the cast. Now they’re bringing a lot of folks who also have it work together.

01:00:02:21 – 01:00:26:07
Speaker 1
So the black Ranger, Walter Jones, never worked with Johnny Yong Bosch because Bosch replaced him as the Black Ranger, never showed up to be in this exact film. And on the poster of this film, it only shows us the Black Ranger, Blue Ranger, pink and red. But there are other people listed in here who are also Rangers. So the question is, are they going to be Rangers and another kind of facet?

01:00:26:14 – 01:00:49:05
Speaker 1
Is it going to be like one of the O.G. anniversary films? They bring back every Power Ranger ever for this big climactic nostalgia tearjerker moment of We were always Power Rangers. We’re here for everybody Here spans three generations of Power Rangers behind, and it’s all the rage. And also, I mean, what’s also sad about that one is talking about training.

01:00:49:10 – 01:01:06:14
Speaker 1
And two, we also know that Jason is not going to be in this film because Jason passed away. And so there’s going to be two Rangers down in this film. It sounds like Jason provided his voice work for a few things because if you see the trailer, there is a green Ranger in the trailer.

01:01:06:14 – 01:01:08:04
Speaker 4
Fired Mike, who’s there?

01:01:08:07 – 01:01:26:22
Speaker 1
So most likely they’re going to have a couple of times. Yeah, yeah, you. Ian because that’s pretty much what he does a lot of time. So but they’re going to have to acknowledge multiple different Rangers have passed away, even a few who are also among the cast themselves that also passed away throughout the year. So I’m wondering what’s it look like?

01:01:27:03 – 01:01:51:06
Speaker 1
It seems like a pretty cool thing. They’re all obviously a lot older. And I remember and it’s also really big that David Yost is back in Power Rangers levels. And remember, if you remember back in the day, David Yost is a gay man and he has a terrible memory of being on set and being harassed for his orientation.

01:01:52:03 – 01:02:12:15
Speaker 1
And it kind of took him away out of being a part of the community. Either he felt very ostracized for him, stepping back into this role is huge, I think, for fans and also for him. But you know what? I’m going to step in and I’m feeling like I feel support it now to do so. And here’s how I’m going to step up into this role to bring it all back.

01:02:12:15 – 01:02:19:15
Speaker 1
Because going back to the Townsville gang I that Townsville Angel Grove, which is basically Townsville.

01:02:20:04 – 01:02:20:10
Speaker 4
That.

01:02:21:11 – 01:02:22:04
Speaker 3
Is central.

01:02:22:04 – 01:02:31:14
Speaker 1
So literally it’s just a matter of a random fake town and I’m looking forward to anything grow to seeing if it’s still in the nineties, if it’s still just.

01:02:31:19 – 01:02:33:12
Speaker 4
AJ building.

01:02:33:14 – 01:02:34:22
Speaker 3
The time capsule.

01:02:35:15 – 01:02:42:07
Speaker 1
Like time never changed in Angel Grove, It’s still 1995. You are at the boom box and walk past.

01:02:43:04 – 01:02:44:22
Speaker 2
As they walk out of the Whole Foods.

01:02:45:09 – 01:02:52:15
Speaker 1
Oh man. I’m also wondering if they’re going to have the Black Ranger dance again. I don’t recall.

01:02:53:02 – 01:02:53:20
Speaker 3
That that.

01:02:53:20 – 01:03:10:23
Speaker 1
Was his thing because he was he was a breakdancer. Hey, guy, that was literally his role. And as an adult, I was like, I didn’t realize how that was kind of messed up that they give the black guy the you’re thinking, you dance, you’re a real good dancer. And I’m like, And like, they were really much like, Cool.

01:03:10:23 – 01:03:34:02
Speaker 1
Trini, your fingers are really smart. You’re always going to see you’re executing that tape. Because I’m like, Yeah, I knew what to do with this. You know, with the Scott Oates bust up. Oh, like it? Well, yeah, it’s coming out of mine is. It’s coming out on Netflix April 19th. Check it out. It’s is the 30th anniversary. And you know, Aisha Campbell’s back in it.

01:03:34:10 – 01:03:40:23
Speaker 1
I know she’s back. Who was the other black? Who was the other yellow Regular ranger on Love Asia had a huge crush.

01:03:40:23 – 01:03:41:09
Speaker 3
On her as.

01:03:41:09 – 01:04:02:21
Speaker 1
A kid. But yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing who they got to come back for this and what it looks like, because as a fan, I remember when I saw Africa. How long ago was the all Red Ranger episode movie that came out where every Red Ranger and it was like the coolest thing because it had the Power Rangers Turbo Ranger, who was a black Ranger.

01:04:02:21 – 01:04:19:01
Speaker 1
And I’m like, I love that guy as a kid. And like the Black Red Ranger. That’s so cool. So I’m looking forward to seeing how they decide to celebrate the 30th anniversary and also honor all these past rangers that are no longer with us.

01:04:19:01 – 01:04:27:09
Speaker 3
So I hit the feels hard right when our whole of that been there. It’s like.

01:04:27:09 – 01:04:35:02
Speaker 1
I can do this since the first ten. So when I first saw that first amazing guitar riff.

01:04:36:03 – 01:04:36:14
Speaker 2
I was.

01:04:36:14 – 01:04:37:08
Speaker 1
Like, Yeah.

01:04:37:13 – 01:04:41:11
Speaker 2
A little re watching the TV very clearly ready to go.

01:04:41:23 – 01:04:44:01
Speaker 3
Across the screen. Like you have.

01:04:44:01 – 01:04:44:11
Speaker 1
To be.

01:04:44:12 – 01:04:49:07
Speaker 2
Probably like because my mom with a yelled at me, but I.

01:04:49:07 – 01:04:52:13
Speaker 1
Actually remember just fighting in the house like we were.

01:04:52:13 – 01:04:53:03
Speaker 3
About to save.

01:04:53:05 – 01:04:54:13
Speaker 2
My car. Yes. Oh, just.

01:04:54:13 – 01:04:55:15
Speaker 1
Doing Karate Kid, I.

01:04:55:15 – 01:04:58:02
Speaker 3
Swear.

01:04:58:02 – 01:05:10:14
Speaker 4
I had a friend who had all the toy weapons and so after school his dad would bring the weapons and he would just be like, I don’t know what the hell we did with that. We ran around and the whoa. And I was like, Oh, Pupu.

01:05:11:17 – 01:05:15:09
Speaker 1
Yeah. I made it very clear that I was not getting those those toys.

01:05:15:14 – 01:05:16:07
Speaker 3
Saying, I think.

01:05:16:10 – 01:05:22:07
Speaker 1
Like the little the little Zordon toy. That was pretty cool and nice.

01:05:24:13 – 01:05:39:14
Speaker 1
And also in the trailer. And I’m wondering, did this on purpose. They did not update the animation from when the little swords go and I’m thinking now this is how it looked in the past. We could update this.

01:05:39:19 – 01:05:40:18
Speaker 2
We’re going to do the same.

01:05:40:18 – 01:05:53:22
Speaker 1
And it still looks cheesy as hell like that is. We literally someone put like a blue cardboard and like some like papier maché hills, and then someone was dragging these toys.

01:05:55:19 – 01:06:11:04
Speaker 2
To kill two birds with one stone. That way marlin is cheaper and it more and it’s more effective because we all know how well nostalgia works. So this is the way you’re going to keep that from me.

01:06:11:08 – 01:06:35:06
Speaker 1
So I’m looking forward to being like, Oh, right, this is to drive me insane. Like, this is like I was the coolest. Like, like even the putty creatures. Like, it’s something like, like the ponies come back and the two cast members acknowledge, Oh, this, these guys look rough. And it’s like, okay, we’re like, these are part of the bears.

01:06:35:06 – 01:06:48:01
Speaker 1
I think this is like, really, really. These are not as real. I always look like actual people in mass, so this is probably yeah, it’s so, it’s so cheap. Look at that time. It’s coming out about 19.

01:06:48:08 – 01:06:51:16
Speaker 3
76, but it was on Netflix. Yes. Yeah.

01:06:52:01 – 01:06:54:10
Speaker 4
And I guess theater I’m down right?

01:06:54:11 – 01:07:00:03
Speaker 3
Because I was like, there no one we all can watch sit around TV and watch.

01:07:00:21 – 01:07:06:00
Speaker 1
Absolutely. So if you’re a power Ranger fan, check it out. Let me.

01:07:08:23 – 01:07:11:21
Speaker 3
See what else have anything to add to the is.

01:07:12:21 – 01:07:24:06
Speaker 4
Sort of if you have Showtime, I recommend the yellow series. The season two is starting. Season one was fucking weird, but I like it.

01:07:25:04 – 01:07:28:14
Speaker 3
Can you tell me what the show’s about? Because I keep seeing it. Please.

01:07:28:14 – 01:08:03:05
Speaker 4
Like I will try. I will try, I will try. So the story takes place in the nineties so it has like on my needs music. So if you are a nineties baby and you listen to like nineties music, this is for you. And so the premise is a soccer team in L.A. they are going to a big event, a Herefords game and as they’re flying their plane crashes and they don’t get found for over a year over here.

01:08:04:01 – 01:08:32:08
Speaker 4
And so and so the story goes back to between when they’re young after after this thing happens and them as adults and it’s you have to watch because it overlaps. I don’t want to like give away anything. But it’s so it’s it’s it’s interesting. It’s dark and you’re not really sure what’s happening. And even at the end of season one, you’re like, what?

01:08:33:13 – 01:08:45:18
Speaker 4
Oh, that’s interesting. See what happens. Season two. So if you’re into weird things that don’t really make a lot of sense, but you’re intrigued by story, check it out.

01:08:45:18 – 01:08:54:14
Speaker 3
Is it more like psychological thriller or is there like some horror in it to I.

01:08:55:04 – 01:09:09:16
Speaker 4
I really want to call it on the cusp of being a supernatural thing because you’re not really sure what the fuck is happening. Oh, okay. And and there’s something clearly going on. There’s a reason why this is all happening, but you’re not really clear why. It’s just really interesting.

01:09:09:16 – 01:09:10:21
Speaker 3
I mean, like a lot of it.

01:09:11:11 – 01:09:28:08
Speaker 4
Actor actors, there’s Christina Ricci. What’s her face? Oh, God. What’s her name? There’s it’s a really good cast. Like even the the the younger actors are like y’all got some chops.

01:09:28:17 – 01:09:54:20
Speaker 1
It sounds almost very similar. Sounds like like a more intense version of Class of of Seven. We sort of watching that. It’s also on Amazon. It’s on Amazon. And the premise of that show is that there’s a class reunion and then it’s a and then all of a sudden the world starts to end and these like class and these like high school friends are stuck in this one location trying to survive one another as like the world is actually falling apart around them.

01:09:55:20 – 01:09:57:01
Speaker 4
They eat people too.

01:09:58:09 – 01:10:01:13
Speaker 1
I didn’t brought up in like, just wait, this.

01:10:03:11 – 01:10:06:08
Speaker 3
So go so.

01:10:06:08 – 01:10:39:00
Speaker 4
America is so so so the scene in season one you don’t we don’t get to that part Yeah but it’s eluded to in the future or their present that like everyone wants to know what happened when you guys were stuck in mountains for like a few things that happened but they don’t want to talk about it. Second reasons, they don’t want to discuss that because one of them’s trying to run for office and like, you know, so, so many things happened that if anyone talks, everyone’s going to get their lives blown up.

01:10:39:23 – 01:10:42:10
Speaker 3
So very interesting.

01:10:42:10 – 01:10:44:16
Speaker 1
Very, very party ask.

01:10:45:08 – 01:10:52:06
Speaker 3
Like why has it flies with light lost? But then it’s like because we’re coming back to the forefront. So we’re trying season one.

01:10:52:13 – 01:11:27:09
Speaker 4
Sort of like 55th. I think season two is going to get to that more with season one is like, you know, they’re still like, We’re going to get found, we’re going to get found, we’re going to get found. And then you realize this is it’s winter. So. So yeah, it’s I highly recommend well, at least watch season one because it’s it’s a solid like we can do we kind of watching and then season two started like last or this week I believe I haven’t seen it but so if you if you like weird things Marlin slow down.

01:11:27:21 – 01:11:28:10
Speaker 1
Go where.

01:11:28:10 – 01:11:30:11

01:12:09:00 – 01:12:12:11
Speaker 4
Reading that too. That’s a whole other thing. I’m like, how is that going to look.

01:12:12:11 – 01:12:19:17
Speaker 3
Like it would make sense because then I don’t have to have to. This. It would. Wow. Okay. That sounds.
