Emilya “Eming” Piansay in a San Franciscan, and Bay Area resident. 

She worked as an intern at YO! Youth Outlook Multimedia in 2004, where she later became the site’s blog editor and later YO!’s managing editor.

Eming worked with Kevin Weston during KwestOn Media 1.0 in Oakland, California. There, she, Kevin and Paul Billingsley trained young people in Oakland to shoot and edit their own videos. This eventually led to the production of the KwestOn Media documentary An Educated Woman that was showcased at the International Oakland Film Festival and Woman’s History Month Film Festival in New Jersey. 

Currently, Eming works at BookNook as a site lead for an elementary school in San Pablo, CA. She works with elementary students grades 3rd – 6th to improve their reading and comprehension skills. During the summer she works with middle school students to produce their own short films. 

In 2016, Eming co-founded a literary, and pop culture blog  and podcast titled Tea & Fiction.

Eming holds a BA in Journalism from San Francisco State University and an MFA in Editing for Television and Motion Picture from Academy of Art University. 

She is currently working on her first novel.
